Assessment Only QTS

We offer the opportunity for those with significant experience teaching in a school to achieve QTS though our ‘Assessment Only’ program.

Stage 1 – Initial Enquiry

Stage 2 – Application

Complete an application form confirming that you meet the entry criteria

Stage 3 – Pre-Assessment Meeting

Following a successful initial application, you will need to attend a pre-assessment meeting. This meeting will provide you with key information regarding the process and the required standard needed for your evidence portfolio. During this meeting you will be asked to provide original documentation of qualifications.

Following this meeting, you will be asked to submit a portfolio of evidence demonstrating how you have met the Teachers’ Standards. You, and your employing school, will also be asked to sign a partnership agreement.

Stage 4 – Interview

If your portfolio meets the criteria, you will be invited for interview.

At interview you will be asked to:

Take part in a formal interview which will include questions based on your evidence portfolio
Complete a literacy and numeracy competency task
Complete a subject knowledge test
Teach a lesson

Stage 5 – Assessment Day

At the end of the 12-week period, an assessment day will take place at your employing school on a mutually agreed date. As part of this day, joint lesson observations of 2 age ranges will take place, with a senior member of staff in your school. In addition, there will be an interview with your line manager (e.g. head of department/phase) and an interview with a senior member of staff (usually the person in charge of ECTs)

Cost

The total cost of the programme is £2500. This may be funded by the school, the candidate or a combination of both. Further details can be discussed during initial enquiries.
