NPQ Funding – September 2024
From September 2024, the funding model for NPQs is changing significantly.
Some courses will remain fully funded for all state-maintained schools and eligible early years settings. Full funding will be limited to the following:
- NPQH and the Early Headship Coaching Offer
- NPQ for Leading Primary Maths
- New NPQ for SENDCOs
You can read more about the new NPQ for SENDCO in this article from Ambition Institute.
From September 2024 this course replaces the NASENCO qualification as the mandatory qualification for SENCOs. Colleagues who have completed NASENCO will not need to complete the NPQ.
For all other specialist and leadership NPQs, funding will be targeted at areas of high disadvantage. To date, the government has shared these criteria for how eligibility will be determined:
- Schools in the top 50% of schools with the highest proportion of pupils who attract pupil premium funding
- 16 to 19 settings identified as having high disadvantage
- highly disadvantaged early years settings
We appreciate that schools will require more detail about these criteria, and we anticipate that more guidance will be shared soon. Arthur Terry TSH will continue to share information with you as it becomes available.
NPQ courses will still be available to all schools but these will now come at a cost to centres that do not meet the above.
