As the academic year draws to a close, we’ve taken a moment to reflect on all that has been delivered and achieved this year. Also, later in this issue, there are some key reminders for school leaders and aspiring NPQ participants.

Let’s start with something very important:

Congratulations!

To all our Early Career Teachers completing their induction this term. Well done, and thank you for all the hard work you have invested. We wish you well for the future, and hope to see you training as mentors and completing NPQs in the years to come!

To our ECF Mentors coming to the end of their two-year training programme. You are invaluable. Thank you, and keep up the great work!

To our NPQ participants awaiting results this Summer, good luck, and congratulations!

To our SCITT Associate Teachers and Mentors – congratulations on completing the first stage of the journey and all the best for what comes next!

Our Year in Numbers

It has been another tremendous year here at the Arthur Terry Teaching School Hub. We have seen record-high levels of engagement, recruitment and completion across all the different areas of the Hub’s operations. We’ve picked out some of the headline figures in the image above.

These numbers tell a story, not only of the successful growth and development of the teaching school hub this year but more importantly, a story of impact.

Every NPQ participant, Early Career Teacher, trainee and mentor that makes up those figures has been received high-quality, evidence based training and support from our dedicated teams. That means that the children and students they in their schools are exposed to teachers who are stronger, better supported and more likely to positively affect life chances, than they might have been otherwise.

Thank you all for engaging, and for making the most of the opportunities offered by the Hub.

Our Teams

The Hub can only enjoy the success and impact that it does with the support of the various teams and groups of colleagues who make everything happen. You will see them delivering training, supporting schools or answering your queries via email or on the phone.

What you are less likely to see are the countless hours of strategic thought, administration, planning, preparation and quality assurance that enable us to deliver the best possible quality training to our participants.

We’d like to say a massive thank you to all who help us to make it happen:

  • Our Facilitators – experts and leaders from across the city collaborate to prepare and deliver exceptional training on our NPQ and ECF programmes.
  • Our Mentors – some of the most important people in education, our army of ITT and ECF mentors continues to grow and strengthen.
  • Induction Tutors school leaders who work tirelessly to coodrinate and deliver support to ECTs.
  • Our Administrators – there is an endless amount of work required to keep the Hub working smoothly – we could not do this without our admin team.
  • Our TSH and SCITT Staff – our core group of teachers and leaders employed directly by the Hub are incredibly hard-working experts in their fields.

We are immnsely proud of what the TSH has achieved this academic year, thank you to all our stakeholders. We could not do it without you.

NPQ Update

While we are still waiting for final clarity about what funding will be available, and what the eligibility criteria will be for the next cohort of NPQs, we can confirm the following:

  • A 9th cohort of NPQs will happen next academic year.
  • The courses will start in November.
  • ATTSH intends to run the full suite of courses for this cohort, wherever possible and if demand allows.
  • You can register your interest now for courses starting in the Autumn.

We will contact school leaders next term, as soon as we have clarity on funding and eligibility.

ECF and AB Update

Registration

Registrations for September new starters are now open for both ECTE and AB. Please register your ECTs as soon as possible to avoid delays in the Autumn.

All the information about registration has been shared directly with Induction Tutors and school leaders. You can always find our regularly updated registration on our dedicated page:

School Leader Support

We recently concluded our series of webinars supporting school leaders to prepare for September. We will run this session again in the Autumn. Resources and recordings were sent to all Induction Tutors last week. If you have not received these, and would like them, click below to request.

Additionally, we have recently launched our dedicated ECTE section of the website. You can also find extensive Induction Tutor Guidance and FAQs on our dedicated Induction Tutor Page.

School Leader Survey

We want to hear feedback about your experiences with the TSH.

We have been asked by the DfE to send a survey to all schools to gather feedback about our Teaching School Hub offer. If your school has accessed at least one of our hub programmes or opportunities this year we would really appreciate you taking a few minutes to complete this survey. Our Hub programmes this year included ECF, NPQs, Appropriate Body Services, ITT, Langauge Hub or the Recruitment and Retention Toolkit.

The survey should be completed by a member of your school’s Leadership Team and each school can only complete the survey once. If you think there is someone better placed to complete this, please can you forward it on to them. The deadline for completion is Friday September 13th

IMPORTANT NOTE: if you are an executive headteacher or CEO across more than one school, please pass this message to relevant leaders in your schools to complete.
