ECF Induction Tutor Update

Tuesday 5th November, 2024

This update contains an overview of the expectations for your ECTs and mentors for this half term.  In this update:

Registration and Logins

Hopefully, all ECTs and mentors will have received their logins from EDT and should be able to access the EDT platform and engage with the block content and materials.

Login details are issued from ecf@educationdevelopmenttrust.com so please ask your ECTs and mentors to check their spam/junk folders first, and then let us know if they haven’t received anything.

If your ECTs and / or mentors haven’t received their username and passwords, the delay is likely to be linked to the DfE portal rather than to Education Development Trust.  Please log back into the DfE portal and check the information which is showing for your school.

Registrations for new ECT starters to your school for January 2025.

You will receive information in the coming weeks about registrations for any ECTs who will be joining your school in January. Please do keep an eye out for this email as it is important that we have indicative numbers and can support you to ensure that all registrations are completed quickly and ready for them to be up and running in January.

Appropriate Body

Your ECTs should all be registered with an Appropriate Body, and this is a statutory requirement.

The Appropriate Body is responsible for the statutory assessment of ECTS.

You can check if your ECTs have been correctly registered by logging into your ECT Manager account.

To check your ECT and mentor engagement with the self-study components of the programme please log into the EDT Platform and click on the Activity Completion Report on the righthand side of your homepage.

Select the relevant cohort for your ECTs and mentors and you will be able to see their engagement with each section of the block content.

The next block of content needs to be completed by Friday 13th December.

We will email any participants that have not started their self-study content during the week beginning 11th November.

We will be competing a 50% engagement check in the week beginning 25th November, and we will contact you directly where we have concerns about your ECT/Mentor’s engagement in the programme.

ECF Events

We have delivered almost all of our ECF events for the Autum Term and the feedback from ECTs and mentors have been overwhelmingly positive. The engagement from all participants has been of a really high standard and indicative of the support that they are receiving in school.

We have a small number of events happening in the next two weeks, and all communication has been sent to the relevant groups with details about joining online or attending face to face.

We aim to send out all details for the Spring Term events within the next few weeks to enable you to plan for cover so that your ECTs and mentors can attend.

If you would like to view when events are taking place all details can be found on our website here: ECF Events – Arthur Terry Teaching School (atlp.org.uk)

Induction Tutor Development Forums

Last year we offered additional optional one-hour sessions for Induction Tutors to focus on areas that would support your development within the role. We received very positive feedback from these and therefore we will be offering these again this year, starting in the spring term.

We would like to hear from you about topics that you would like covered in these sessions so that we can tailor them specifically to what you need.

Please click the link here to a Microsoft Form where you can make suggestions about possible content for these sessions: https://forms.office.com/e/rMTxZYdh9E

As always, we are here to support you with a successful implementation of the ECF programme in your school so please do get in touch if we can help and support in any way.
